Academic Year 2022-2023 Salary and Benefit Information

Support

  • Regular opportunities for support and mentorship from faculty and the Director.
  • Monthly support group meetings. The monthly support group is held with fellows and an outside facilitator which allows an unencumbered space to explore clinical, programmatic, and personal aspects of the fellowship experience.
  • Access to in-house social worker at the Geriatrics office and clinical pharmacist on staff.
  • Regular opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration throughout the various locations.

Salary

The salary for geriatric fellows in our program is $79,926.

Benefits

Medical and Dental

The hospital provides hospitalization insurance for fellows and family at a nominal cost to be determined yearly. Coverage includes base plans with major medical and medical-surgical insurance. Outpatient coverage is outlined in the base plan. The hospital provides dental and vision insurance for the fellow and family at a nominal cost to be determined yearly. Preventative and simple restorative dental procedures are covered.

Disability

Long Term Disability: A disability policy, paying sixty percent of the resident’s salary after 90 days of disability, is provided.
Short Term Disability: Compensation for a personal serious illness is provided following an absence of 7 consecutive days.

Malpractice Insurance

Provided by the hospital for all work performed as part of the teaching program.

Life Insurance

Term life insurance is provided at twice the annual salary, effective immediately.

Information Technology

The program provides fellows with up to $300 for handheld devices if desired. Our current models connect to a wireless system throughout the hospitals and clinics. This allows fellows to check labs, answer emails and conduct internet searches via their handhelds. This benefit is separate from the allotted CME reimbursement.

Meals

Meals are available in the hospital and outpatient pavilion cafeteria at employee prices (20% off regular price).

Continuing Medical Education

Lancaster General Health will provide $3,000 for continuing medical education (CME). Fellows will be provided five (5) days of educational leave for attendance at local conferences during the year, or to utilize for interviewing purposes.

Vacation and Holidays

24 days paid time off per year.

Medications

Medications can be purchased at cost in the hospital pharmacy for residents and family.
