A Welcome Message
from Our Fellowship Director
Thank you for your interest in the Lancaster General Hospital (LGH) Geriatric Medicine Fellowship
We are excited that you have chosen to look more closely at what our program has to offer. The need for trained geriatricians is increasing rapidly as our population ages. The combination of a diverse and growing geriatric population in Lancaster County and the high-quality health-care services provided at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health make Lancaster General Hospital an ideal place for you to develop excellent geriatric skills.
The mission of our fellowship program is to train physicians to become expert clinicians, educators, and advocates in the care of older adults across a variety of settings. Our program is dedicated to advancing health equity and fostering excellence in geriatric training through evidence-based care grounded in compassion, interprofessional collaboration, and responsiveness to the needs of vulnerable older adult populations. Our graduates serve in various roles in their communities, some as part of a broad-spectrum primary care practice and others as a specialist, focused on care of the older adults. Graduates of our program are involved in education, advocacy, administration, leadership, and clinical roles.
Each of our faculty is passionate about serving older adults and that permeates into all facets of Fellowship training. In addition to developing strong geriatric clinical skills, Fellows develop skills in teaching, application of evidence-based medicine to geriatric care, medical direction and administration, community education, and leadership.
Fellows work in a variety of settings, including the inpatient Geriatric Consult Service, outpatient geriatrics continuity primary care and consultative clinic, Geriatrics at Home program, assisted living and skilled care communities, hospice and palliative care services, and community health services. Fellows have the opportunity to interact with and teach residents through Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health's highly regarded Family Medicine Residency Program.
We are seeking family medicine or internal medicine-trained residents and physicians who share our commitment to service and our passion for caring for and improving the health care of the geriatric population. We look forward to sharing the personal and professional satisfaction that comes from caring for older adults. Please review the LGH Geriatric Fellowship website to learn more about our program. Please reach out to our team with any questions, for more information, or better yet, to meet our team!
