Residents After Hours
While we pride ourselves on working hard to become excellent physicians, we also know that our time away from the hospital is vital to maintaining a balance in our professional and personal lives.
Both our residency and Lancaster County have many opportunities for non-medical fun!
Some of these include the following...
Every September our faculty cover the clinical duties so the residents can fill their duty to camaraderie, team building, and fun. Recent trips to a local campsite included water sliding, cranium, and a bonfire.
You don't have to crave locally-brewed beer to attend a "liver rounds" evening, as it’s really an opportunity for getting together for good food and socializing. We also have “Kidney Rounds” which are kid-friendly gatherings.
The entire program including nursing and administrative staff join residents and faculty towards the end of the year for serious laughter and camaraderie during "Roast Night" when all the plugs are pulled.
Intern Night Out
Once a year, upper years cover the services so that all the sleep-deprived interns can get together for an evening of fun!
Lancaster’s semi-professional baseball team is located five blocks from the hospital and features inexpensive tickets and hotdogs, as well as lots of excitement!
Lancaster is home to many art galleries and First Fridays, when all galleries open their doors and serve wine and cheese to Lancaster’s art aficionados.
Lancaster County is widely known for beautiful areas for bicycling and hiking. We have a Frisbee golf course, areas for kayaking, and many surrounding parks.
Every week in the summer both Long’s Park and Nissley Vineyards have outdoor concerts, ranging from folk to reggae to jazz.
