Lancaster General Health is Lancaster County's oldest operating non-profit, community-owned hospital. We have been a 100 Top Hospital nationally five years in a row from 1997 to 2009.  U.S. News & World Report (July 2009) announced that LGH is among the top 50 hospitals in the country.  This is the sixth time in seven years that LGH received this national recognition. The 521-bed hospital is a regional referral center for multiple specialties, including cardiac, pulmonary, trauma and neurosurgery. We have an Emergency Medicine and Trauma (Level II) and Stroke Center, with more than 60,000 emergency room visits annually. Construction was recently completed on a $15 million dollar state-of-the-art renovation of our emergency department, and we are now undertaking construction of a $68 million dollar Orthopedic Center.
